Mergui Archipelago Expeditions
Season: December – April
Come with us on an expedition to a place that’s unknown to most of the outside world – one of the planet’s most isolated and pristine places. The Mergui Archipelago is a group of 800 islands (mostly uninhabited) in the remote south of Myanmar (Burma). Here you’ll find white sand beaches with palm trees and dense jungle. Explore crystal clear waters full of vibrant coral reefs and abundant fish varieties. Collect seashells, watch the local exotic wildlife and explore islands most people can only dream of.
The Mergui Archipelago only gets a few visitors per month, so you can expect to enjoy pure serenity as you cruise. Our luxury yachts take you here in style and our professional crew pamper you with fresh food and drinks along the way.
If you are interested in meeting locals, we can take you to villages where you can enjoy the food, buy fresh cuttlefish, and watch men building dugout canoes the way they have been made for tens of thousands of years.
While you sail chances are good you’ll be able to watch dolphins jump near your yacht. Take a quick dive anytime – the waters are warm and pleasant all year round. On the islands you can explore dense jungles teeming with wildlife, including gibbons, pythons, huge monitor lizards, Hornbills, sea eagles and kingfishers (among many others).
You’ll have ample opportunities for fishing during the expedition. Cast for mahi mahi, tuna, sailfish and snapper – it’s truly a fisherman’s paradise. We provide all equipment needed for fishing.
Getting Here
Our expeditions to Mergui Archipelago depart in Kawthaung in Myanmar’s south, just across the border from Thailand. Getting to Kawthaung is s surprisingly easy. If you are arriving from Myanmar, you can fly directly to Kawthaung Airport. We are happy to meet you at the airport. Another option is to fly to Ranong Airport. Once you are in Ranong, we will take a boat across the Pakchan River to Kawthaung, which takes only a few minutes. We will help you with the immigration procedures before boarding the yacht. Phuket International Airport is a convenient and well-connected place to fly to. From there, it’s a scenic 4-hour car ride to Ranong, where we can meet you and take you to Kawthaung.
